Stop Procrastinating (or you’ll end up in a VAN down by the RIVER!)

Are the days slipping away and you just wonder where the time is going?  Stop Procrastinating, or you’ll wake up tomorrow in a van down by the river!

Seriously, if you’re here, you know that nagging feeling of knowing that there are things you want to do, but you are fiddling around instead….

Don’t feel bad.  It’s not a problem exclusive to you.  Almost everyone does it in some shape or form….  if they’re worried about failure, if they’re worried about succeeding, if they’re worried that whatever it is – is too hard to accomplish….

But here’s the deal.  If you DON’T stop procrastinating, that nagging feeling will only get worse.  Your confidence will be diminished and you’ll stay in the same situation you’re in (which I’m guessing isn’t a place you want to be) or your situation will get worse.

Do You REALLY Want to Stop Procrastinating or is that Just a Smoke Screen?

In order to stop procrastinating, it’s going to take focus on effort on your part.  Are you willing to give your attention to what’s important?

#1 Cause of Procrastination – Unclear or undefined goals

You know what you are procrastinating on.  Here is where you need to start.  Set your priorities on where it’s important to spend your time then set some benchmarks or goals.

For example, if you want to spend more time with your kids and it’s bothering you that you don’t this (because it IS important), set some goals.  Make a COMMITMENT and create new habits.  You could set a goal to read to your kids 15-20 minutes before bedtime or make it a rule to have dinner together with no distractions.  Make the goals your own and what works for you.

Setting Goals and MAKING A COMMITMENT to achieve them establishes successful habits and will help you to stop procrastinating.

This is true in every area of your life, personal or business….

There was a time when I was procrastinating on achieving success with my own business while staying at home with my kids.  I would let myself get distracted because I didn’t have clear goals.  Once I decided to set those goals, I had to set boundaries and then follow through with the actions to achieve these goals.

When it comes to business, share you goals with your family.  Get them on board.  They are your support and if they know what your goals are, they will want to help you accomplish them!
